Comm Arts: READ 30 minutes and record.  (Great work on your stories today!  We'll be finishing those up and sharing in class tomorrow!)


MT history: Draw an illustration to represent pages 105 - 106 (Routes into Montana) and another to represent pages 106 - 108 (life in the Gold Camps).  Just fold a blank sheet of paper in half and use each half for an illustration. Include as many details as you can!


MATh: Lesson 42 - odds!  # 13 requires a protractor and ruler.  If you do not have one at home you can do it FIRST thing in the morning in the classroom!

Comm Arts:  Read 30 minutes and LOG it!  I was so happy that almost everyone had read last night!  GO 7th GRADE!!!  (grades will be taken at the start of class.....)
AND
finish your draft writing of 25 I believe statements.  I will post the samples from the kindergartener and the Savage Garden song to help you.... 


Social Studies:  Nothing due tomorrow.  Questions 1 - 8 at the end of the chapter will be due on Friday.  They really aren't very hard... and we'll have class time tomorrow to work on them.


Math/Course 2 - finish lesson 36 # 1 - 30.

homework for tonight...

Communication Arts:  READ 30 minutes from your NOVEL and write it down (preferably in your reading notebook but even a scrap paper works - write down: title and pages read)
If you want to work ahead... Start writing your beliefs!  I am looking for at least 25 beliefs.  Think seriously about these and what has meaning to you. (not due tomorrow.... probably Thurday).


VOCABULARY quiz tomorrow.... : accolade, anomaly, acrid, acrimony and antidote!  


Social Studies:  We are working on reading chapter 5.  No homework at this time.


Math:  No homework (unless you still owe me lesson 35, evens)  TEST tomorrow!!!  You may work on solving the word problem at home!

homework for tonight: 11.21.11

homework is a little abnormal with so many students gone for Science Olympiad.  So here's where we are:


Communications Arts: Read 30 minutes and record in your Reading Notebook
ALSO:  If you have not turned in your "Duck on a Bike" story please make sure to have it by Monday after Thanksgiving - this will be your last chance to turn it in!


Social Studies (Montana history): Complete the Map Skills handout from chapter 5 if you didn't finish in class on Monday - maps on page 16 and 82 should help you!




Math - First section - make sure to bring Lesson 35 to class on Monday after Thanksgiving.  
Second section - nothing (we corrected L35 today)
If needed, please catch up on any unfinished work.  We will be taking Test 6 just after Thanksgiving.

I am re-committing to our class blog. We will use it as a scrapbook (kinda) of our year!  We will use it to keep track of what our homework is... what is going on when... 
and I will update it

DID YOU KNOW???

Helena had the first library in Montana!  It opened in 1870 as a subscription library but burned down in 1874.  In 1886, after it was rebuilt, it became the first free library in Montana!NAME of LIBRARY: Lewis and Clark Library!

Field Trip

Hey 7th grade,
Thanks for being WONDERFUL on our field trip to St. Mary's Mission! I hope you learned a lot about the amazing town we live in. I also hope you gathered some ideas to help you with the poster contest. REMEMBER - we will be working on the posters in class but I have very limited art supplies! If you would like to bring in anything from home go right ahead!

First FIELD TRIP!!!

The 7th grade will take their first Field Trip of the school year next week! The details are as follows:
Date: Tuesday September 13
Time: Depart school at 9:45. Return in time for LUNCH/RECESS
Location: St. Mary's Mission in Stevensville, MT
Purpose: To launch our study of Montana history as well as to build background knowledge in order to participate in the Founder's Day poster contest.

Parents are welcome (encouraged!!)to join us on this excursion.

No extras are needed - the weather should be great, and we will be back in time for lunch. Students may bring a camera if they would like to take pictures to help with the poster contest.

*** September 24, 2011 marks the 170th anniversary of the founding of St. Mary's Mission.

*** Details on the poster contest are several posts below. You'll find it if you scroll down.

*** Students will be sent home with information about the trip and the contest on Friday.

My name is Ms. Chanin and I will be your teacher for many of your classes this year. I am completely new to Lone Rock School as well as the Bitterroot Valley. I am really excited to get to know you all!
